The Google Map Pack — those top three local results with the map — is where “near me” searches get won. For a local business, cracking it is often worth more than any organic ranking. Here is how it works.
The three factors Google uses
- Relevance: does your business match what was searched (categories, services, content)?
- Distance: how close you are to the searcher — the one factor you cannot control
- Prominence: how established and trusted you look — reviews, citations, links
Step 1: Perfect your Google Business Profile
Claim and verify it, choose the exact right primary category, complete every field, and add 20+ real photos. This is the biggest single lever — spend the hour it takes to do it properly.
Step 2: Build reviews, steadily
Reviews are a top-three ranking signal and the thing that makes people choose you. Ask every happy customer, aim for a steady flow rather than a sudden burst, and reply to every one. In Jaipur, a WhatsApp message with a direct review link works best.
Step 3: Fix your citations
Get your name, address and phone identical everywhere — Justdial, Sulekha, IndiaMART, and Google, Bing and Apple Maps. Inconsistency confuses Google and quietly holds you back.
Step 4: Add local signals to your site
Put your city in your titles and headings, embed a map on your contact page, and add LocalBusiness schema. Neighbourhood-level content (for example, “Vaishali Nagar” or “Mansarovar”) helps with hyper-local searches.
How long does it take?
A well-optimised profile can start pulling calls within weeks; competitive terms take a few months of steady reviews. For the complete method, read our local SEO guide and our local SEO services.
